Focus On A Date
When I bought my first Prius, I thought I was rare. One of those people who care enough about the environment to put their money where their mouth is. However, almost immediately I became aware that there were a lot of Priuses on the road. I was not alone!
I’m sure you’ve had a similar experience. When you make a decision, your mind becomes sensitive to important aspects of that decision and the unexpected happens. Your awareness is intensified. Things to which you were formerly blind, pop into view.
Let’s put that unique feature of the brain to work for you. Suppose you decide that on January 1, 2017 you will start an exciting new chapter in your life. Imagine a glorious new beginning; something you’ve dreamed about all your life.
But wait. You own a business and if that business is running the same way then as it is now, you may not be able to make that dream come true. Let’s focus on how to use your brain to change your situation and realize your dream.
If you have envisioned what it would be like to be living that dream; the personal satisfaction, the pleasure, the fun, the enthusiasm for life, then that’s a good start.
Take the next step. Write the date somewhere you will see it every day – on your fridge, a white board, a yellow sticky on your monitor. No big deal. It’s just a date. Look at it from time to time. Let it sink into your subconscious. Let your brain go to work behind the scenes while you do other activities. Take time occasionally to visualize the fuzzy picture of that dream and then, like looking through the telephoto lens of a camera, bring it into sharper and sharper focus.
The objective is to get your brain really working for you. Ideas that will enhance your business and help you reach your dream suddenly appear. More than that, they are pertinent to YOUR situation. Strange events, meetings and conversations will come up that will ‘magically’ solve issues you are dealing with, which currently stand between you and your dream.
When you decide what you want, when you want it, and then visualize it, your brain will start to focus on all the opportunities to make it come true.
So pick a date for your next chapter.
