There was a TAC presentation to HR professionals, members of the Southern Ontario Human Resources Group (SOHRG) on the topic of employee succession. We covered a range of themes to consider when identifying and developing people for future roles.
First, are we making the right decisions about in whom we invest. Next, do they feel we are adequately focused on their career path? Unfortunately, many people are dissatisfied in this area. Once we have identified the right people and confirmed their motivations, it is important to invest in their development.
Finally, a lot of employee attrition today is among high potential employees. Part of the challenge is the hot labour market, but many confess that they find the pace stressful.
